15th April 2005 - JJ72 return at long last and perform a series of warm up dates ahead of their touring schedule and the release of their eagerly anticipated third album towards the end of the summer.

The dates will be at the following venues;

JJ72 - What's Happening?

Lots of fans have been asking what is happening with the band and what the plans are for this year. Lots of material has been recorded and there are still a few more tracks to finish up and record.

In the past few weeks in early April the band have been recording more new material with the debut albums producer, Ian Caple.

The band have also been working with the producer, Ken Thomas whose previous production jobs have included Sigur Rós and Dave Gahan and also John Leckie of Stone Roses, Starsailor, Muse and Radiohead fame.

There is no definite release dates set yet as the band want to be completely happy with everything recorded before releasing anything. But expect some great music coming out soon and a tour so you can see all the material played live.

10th May 2003 - JJ72 gets a new bass player. JJ72 have confirmed Sarah Fox, formerly of Dublin band The Valves has joined as the new bassist, replacing Hilary.
She made her debut last night when JJ72 played a semi acoustic set in Belfast.

 

5th March 2003 - JJ72's bass player, Hilary has announced she is to leave the band ! Fergal and Mark announced the sad news on a recent webchat on jj72.com - This is some of what they had to say :

"No decision has been made regarding a new bass player or may i add any new musicians"

"We would like to take this oppurtunity to also wish Hilary the best in the future no matter what she pursues.Hilary decided to leave the band as she genuinely feels that there are other things that she wants to pursue at this moment.However myself and fergal feel very confident in the future of jj72, its time to f**kin' RAAAAAAAAWWWWWWKKKKKK again!"

What was the reason for Hilary leaving do you think?
"As we've said hilary left the band as her heart ws telling her to pursue something else at this moment in her life.myself and fergal created the band as we turned 15,this means everything to us.The band meant a huge amount to hilary also but perhaps she feels now is the right time to pay more attention to some of her other considerable talents"

 

19 January 2003- Always and Forever will be released on a limited edition 5 track Single, available in Ireland only featuring : Wicked game, Dog, City and Nameless - it will be out on the 7th Feb 2003

16 September 2002 - If your lucky enough to live in Ireland go and get yourself a copy of this weeks Hotpress Magazine it features JJ72 on the front cover and an interview inside.

 

15 September 2002 - Confusion reigns yet again ! over the release dates for I to Sky and Formulae - I have received confirmation of two different release dates for I to Sky, the 7th October and the 14th October - JJ72.com still say the 7th however on I to Sky tour posters and advertisements they say the 14th - Formulae on the other hand is still shown as being released on the 23rd September on JJ72.com however information I have received from within the business and also in this weeks NME both suggest the 30th September - I have tried and failed so far to get Lakota to confirm the dates but will advise you when I receive confirmation !

11 September 2002 - It has emerged that the JJ72's forthcoming album I to Sky has now been put back a week due to the release of Suede's new album A New Morning, Sony felt that JJ72's albums release would clash with label mates Suede's first album release for over 3 years and could harm sales figures ! I to Sky will now be released on the 14 October 2002

Along with the postponement of their dates of the I to Sky Tour (See below) and the album, Formulae the new single has also now been delayed to the 30 September 2002

14 July 2002 - News At last !!!

JJ72 return at long last !! with new a single Formulae due to be released on the 16 September . Their second album, is out a fortnight later and is as yet untitled. It was produced by Flood and Alan Moulder. It is expected that a UK and Irish tour will coincide with the albums release

23 Jan - Great News Fergal is back !- Last night at Newcastle University Fergal was back with his injured ankle strapped and drumming away quite happily.

22 Jan - Fergal Matthews, JJ72 drummer seriously injured his ankle during the warm up gig at Derby University on the 20 January. He will be out of action for the rest of the NME Carling Awards Tour. Fergal was injured as the band finished their set. To leave the stage they had to go via the photographer's pit at the front, and as they jumped into it after an energetic set, a fan grabbed Fergal and he badly twisted his ankle. He was taken to the local casualty department, where he spent four hours being examined. Now on crutches, he plans to stay with the band and is currently training up a replacement drummer, Glenn Rowe, a friend of the band from London. It is anticipated Fergal will rejoin the tour by the end of the week. For the gig in Glasgow, Mark played a solo acoustic set lasting only 17 minutes ! (Thanks to jj72.org for the info)

17 Jan - JJ72 appear on the front cover of N.M.E and feature inside in a 3 page feature of the forthcoming N.M.E Carling Awards Tour. They are also nominated under the Best New Artist Category in the N.M.E. Awards which will take place at The Arches, Shoreditch in London on the 6 February 2001.

9 January - JJ72 will NOT be appearing at Glastonbury this year !! - Michael Eavis (organizer of the festival) has decided to abandon plans for the festival this year following pressures from the authorities over the alleged over crowding that occurred at last years festival and concerns that the tragedy that occurred at the Danish Roskilde Festival "could" occur at Glastonbury ! - However the festival should be back for 2002
